For which purposes it is used

This technique can be used in different situations of the teaching process:

  • As an introductory activity, to contextualize a problem or situation.
  • As an assimilation and reinforcement activity. The stories can be designed based on the motivations of the students to capture their attention and facilitate their understanding. Memorization is avoided in favor of assimilation.
  • As a meaningful learning tool, since the student learns from the account of similar experiences that are familiar and motivating.
  • As a tool for learning by discovery where the student tries to guess what is going to happen in the story from the analysis of the situations that occur in it.
  • As a tool to encourage creative development. Currently, the “user-oriented design” approach is becoming very important in the creative process. When designing a product it is important to identify how useful it can be for the person who is going to use it. Storytelling allows the designer to put himself in the shoes of the person who is going to use it and identify what improvements to make to the product.
