General overview of how to implement it
Storytelling is a very flexible method, so it can be implemented in different ways and in different situations. In any case, there are a series of general guidelines that are common to any “Storytelling” activity that is planned:
- Establish the learning objectives that you want to achieve.
- Identify the motivations of the students.
- Find or design a story, example or story that, according to their motivations, serves as the basis for the activity.
- Relate the knowledge you want to teach with history.
- Add elements that capture the student’s attention and encourage their motivation for the activity.
- Group the students together and present the story to them.
- Encourage the participation and collaboration of students so that they can contextualize the problem, relate cause-effect situations, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the solutions that appear in the story.
- Facilitate meaningful and discovery learning, directing the story in a convenient way.
