My name is İlhan DEMİRATAR. I am an automotive technology teacher at vocational high school.

I heard about this technique after few years started to teach. We usually do a list or try to find the problem but diagram helps us to make it easier and understandable.

In cases where we examine the technical structures and malfunctions of the vehicles, we write down the things that will cause the malfunction and check them one by one. With a kind of brainstorming, we apply them in groups in class. The point is, however, that many things can have malfunctions. It is a method that we use in these situations and that students like to participate in.

One of my student told me that during exams or homework’s, he forgets the writings or knowledge but he never forgets the fishbone diagram. He remembers at list the diagram with most of components written or shown by diagram.

I think using schema or diagrams are most permanent then text information and fishbone diagram is one of the best technique if you have a lot of sub branches of subject. You can use it for and lecture and will have good results for class.
