As part of ideation, people are pushed out of their comfort zones and encouraged to come up with new, inventive ideas.

Mind-mapping, brainstorming, and crazy-8s are some of the most common ways of ideation.

It is not a mind map, but rather a system that forces teams to examine one thought before moving on to another.  As a result, the brainstorming process is more organized.

In this technique, you start with a central topic or problem, surrounded by eight (8) empty circles or “petals,” then progress outward, using ever-wider circles. 

The emergence of new ideas, solutions, and possibilities is sparked by the evolving themes.
