Tips & Tricks
- It is often helpful to begin a discussion with everyone wearing a white hat so that the issue can be resolved logically, and then distribute different colored hats among the group. The hats can be shuffled halfway through the discussion.
- Give learners a set of discussion questions and a set amount of time to discuss them. In their hat-wearing roles, they should discuss each question in turn.
- Prepare some of the questions in advance, so that you can ensure the activity covers all the main topics of the lesson.
- Monitor and observe the groups as they dialogue, and assist them when necessary. Your task will be way easier if you play the role of a moderator during the session.
