What is this technique about
The main purpose of this technique is to gather information about a given problem or situation from the feedback provided anonymously and individually by several experts in the field, without interaction between them, through a series of questionnaires (which can be collected in online or physical format). As a result, the technique is intended to clarify and expand on issues, identify areas of agreement or disagreement, and begin to reach consensus.
Now-a-says, the Delphi Method is one of the most widely used techniques for prospective analysis because it overcomes the biases and limitations of a single individual and allows to rely on the intersubjective judgment of an experts’ panel. It is a particularly versatile technique, well-suited not only for technological prediction but also for dealing with uncertainty or a lack of objective information on a given subject.
