Where does it come from

Although it is unclear where the approach originated, it has become more popular in recent years, and it is being utilized in conjunction with a variety of other techniques. The approach is mostly used in connection with the SCAMPER technique. SCAMPER is a mnemonic that stands for: Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to another use, Eliminate and Reverse. Alex Osborn, who is often regarded as the inventor of brainstorming, is credited with developing many of the questions that are now employed in the practice. However, it was Bob Eberle, an education administrator and author, who put these questions together into the SCAMPER mnemonic to help students remember them.
